The Device

dScout is a specially designed wearable device for people who suffer from dementia. It can track their whereabouts, alert if they go out of their Geo-fences or fall and it monitors their activity. dScout's ergonomic shape and lightweight waterproof case make it ideal for everyday use.

The cognitive and behavioral changes in the dementia patients in many cases lead to stress when exposed to new or contrasting objects. This is why we have designed dScout in 3 neutral colours for easier integration and acceptance.

Reviews

Don’t take our word. See what our experts and partners say about dScout.

The most comprehensive system for monitoring of dementia patients I have seen so far. Many functionalities and a very easy to read dashboard.

Fantastic looking device that feels very comfortable on the wrist. I like the security strap, because this means you can rely on getting the location of the wearer not the device.

Very thought through system with the needs of the people with dementia in the center. It's a proper monitoring system not just location tracking. The activity and the fall detection are immensely useful.

FAQ

Got questions? We’ve got answers. If you have some other questions, feel free to send us an email to care@wandering.help

What does IP65 waterproof mean?

It means that you can sue it in the shower or hot tub without worrying if it will leak water. We have designed dScout to be life proof for the dementia patients. It will be their constant companion so it should withstand the daily challenges of ones activities and wear.

How long does the battery last?

The battery on dScout can last from 48 to about 120 hours depending on the frequency of the reporting that you have selected, how many times you have requested Location on demand and the quality of the mobile network signal. Rural areas and places with poor mobile network signal tend to drain the battery faster.

How does the on-the-wrist charging work?

Since dScout utilizes our patent pending Security strap, it is best to charge your dScout while on the wrist of the dementia patient. Probably the most suitable time for this is while they watch their favourite TV movie/series. Just click the charger into its place and the battery will charge within about 40 minutes.

How accurate is dScout's location?

dScout has a very sensitive GPS antenna that allows it to locate your relative quickly and accurately. The accuracy depends on a few factors but mainly the number of satellites visible from the location of your relative. If he or she is between tall buildings then it will be difficult for the Global Positioning System to work. In the location pop-up we have listed the number of satellites that are visible by dScout. Generally, if they are more than 8 the location is quite accurate. If it is more than 12 it is usually accurate within 20 meters
